Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to own major features, drive the Android team's direction, and deliver high-quality user experiences across Speechify’s Android app. You’ll collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to improve reliability, code health, and performance while shaping the roadmap and architectural decisions.

You will review code, handle critical issues, and release features with nightly QA builds.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Android
• Familiarity with Android components and architecture
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app
• Strong product design intuition and user empathy
• Drive to push Android UI/UX boundaries
• Understanding of tests and how to write them
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec
• Rock-solid experience with Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM and related Android tech
• Excellent communication skills and user-centered problem solving
• Willingness to receive feedback from leaders

Responsibilities

• Own major features and work with design to deliver high-quality features
• Shape the future of the Android team
• Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering)
• Review pull requests and support teammates
• Handle critical issues or unexpected challenges
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA
