Job summary

Google Beam engineers design and implement software for cutting-edge hardware peripherals, including cameras, displays, power, and thermal systems. You will work on core Beam OS infrastructure within a fast-paced team focused on delivering scalable, reliable software for consumer electronics.

Responsibilities include writing and testing cross-language code (C++/Java/Kotlin), participating in design reviews, and contributing to documentation and developer workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 5 years of software development experience in C++, Java, or Kotlin.
• 3 years testing, maintaining, or launching software products; 1 year in design/architecture (systems programming or hardware-software integration).
• 2 years of Android Platform, Android Internals, or AOSP experience.
• Experience with low-level system debugging, OS concepts, and network configurations (IP, firewall, ports).

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code (C++/Kotlin/Java) to control Beam hardware peripherals.
• Lead design reviews to decide technologies for Beam OS infrastructure and networking.
• Review code to ensure best practices, testing, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Contribute to documentation and developer workflows updates.
• Triage issues and debug networking, hardware, or service operations; manage device ports and firewall rules.
