Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Senior Android Developer in Orlando, FL to design, develop, and maintain native Android apps for a POS platform.

You will modernize the Android codebase, use Java, Kotlin, XML, and Jetpack Compose, and integrate with backend services in an Agile environment.

This role offers onsite/hybrid work with up to 4 days onsite and 1 day remote weekly, plus benefits including medical, ESOP, and 401K.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Strong, hands-on experience developing native Android apps (not cross-platform).
• Deep understanding of Android architecture and modern development practices.
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, coroutines, XML, and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience integrating Android apps with backend services/APIs.
• Ability to produce clean, scalable, well-architected code.

Job Summary

Our client, a leading media and entertainment industry provider, is seeking a Senior Android Developer who can hit the ground running on a high-visibility, business-critical project. Contract Details

• Contract duration – 6-12 months + possibility of extensions
• Work location – Orlando, FL
• Onsite interview in Orlando, FL required – local candidates only!
• Corporate policy is up to 4 days onsite, 1 day remote / week (will vary depending on location/manager/team)
• Bachelor’s degree is required
• This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications for a Point of Sale (POS) platform
• Help modernize the Android codebase while supporting existing applications built on older Android frameworks
• Work with Java, Kotlin coroutines, XML, and Jetpack Compose as the team transitions to newer Android technologies
• Integrate Android applications with backend services and APIs
• Write clean, maintainable code following modern architecture patterns and Android best practices
• Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders in an Agile environment
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to improve productivity

Required Skills / Experience (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Strong, hands-on experience developing native Android applications (not Flutter, React Native, or other cross-platform frameworks)
• Deep understanding of Android architecture, modern development practices, and legacy Android frameworks (Android 11/13 environments)
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, coroutines, XML, and Jetpack Compose
• Experience integrating Android applications with backend services/APIs
• Ability to produce clean, scalable, well-architected code

Preferred Skills / Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Point of Sale (POS) or retail application development

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $55.00 and $78.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
