Job DescriptionJob Description

About Lark

At Lark Health, we’re leading the way into a new era of cardiometabolic care, leveraging advanced AI techniques–including deterministic and generative models–to provide scalable, affordable, and compassionate care. We help our healthcare partners manage over 30 million lives and prevent conditions like obesity, hypertension, type II diabetes, and behavioral health. Our platform delivers real-time personalized counseling and health monitoring for each patient. By providing compelling and actionable insights, we empower every user to live happier, healthier lives. Come join our team!

The Role

Lark is seeking a talented Senior Analytics Engineer to act as a technical lead for our data platform team, which powers our data insights product for our business partners and enables us to offer Lark’s health coaching to patients. In this role, you will complement the Engineering Manager by providing the technical vision and oversight for a team of analytics engineers. The overall team goal is to deliver our data products flexibly to meet the diverse needs of our external clients and internal colleagues in analytics. The Senior Analytics Engineer will be tasked with ensuring that engineers are making the best technical decisions for the data platform and stakeholders. At Lark, we believe in a player-coach approach, where engineering leaders are not only strategic thinkers but also hands-on leaders, actively involved in scrum ceremonies and guiding the team toward excellence. Join us in shaping the future of health technology with innovation and leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Champion the needs of data consumers — including business analysts, data scientists, and data-powered products — by ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and well-modeled

  • Guide the team in architectural choices, data schema design, dimensional modeling, code reviews, and data quality best practices that align with current business needs while preparing for future growth and scalability

  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for data quality issues and establish remediation processes

  • Design and optimize dbt pipelines for performance, maintainability, modularity, and reliability

  • Provide technical guidance on the structure and organization of data warehouse assets and warehouse schemas

  • Advocate for best practices in data governance and quality across the engineering organization, including in product engineering teams who are upstream of the data platform

  • Partner with leadership on technical strategy, with an emphasis on “disagree and commit” principle

  • Partner with senior analytics engineers and data engineers to design and implement the best approaches for ingesting and transforming new data sources within our tech stack

  • Build a culture of engineering best practices, with an emphasis on observability, documentation, and risk management

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in developing data platform infrastructure, with a strong foundation in SQL and data modeling in managed data warehouses, and ETL/ELT design and implementation

  • Advanced knowledge of dbt, including model structure, materialization, testing, documentation, and deployment best practices

  • Expertise in SQL and at least one programming (Python, Scala)

  • Background working with data warehouse technologies including Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift

  • Strong cross-functional communication skills, with a track record of collaborating across teams such as Analytics, Data Science, Product, and Operations

  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor engineers at varying experience levels

  • Experience with working with sensitive healthcare data (e.g. HIPAA compliance, Safe Harbor)

  • Support team development through active mentoring of data and analytics engineers with varying levels of expertise

  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data pipelines and testing frameworks for ensuring data quality

  • Familiarity with data governance principles, including role-based access control, metadata management, and semantic modeling

  • Prior experience working in a data consumer function, Analytics and/or Data Science is a plus

Lark operates as a remote organization, requiring all employees to reside within the United States. The specific salary offered to a candidate will depend on various factors, including their location, job level, and verified job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for additional compensation, such as participation in a bonus program and stock awards, where applicable.
