Job summary

Grindr is seeking a Senior Data Engineer, Analytics to own data for new product features, building data models, metrics, and semantic layers used by data scientists, ML engineers, and Data Daddy. The role collaborates with Analytics, Product, and Data Science teams to deliver reliable data products and AI-ready analytics.

The position is hybrid, with in-person days in Chicago, San Francisco, or Palo Alto, and requires you to be in the office on designated days.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and dimensional modeling to support analytics
• Experience turning event data into reliable production datasets
• Understanding semantic layers and reusable metrics
• Collaboration with Data Scientists, ML Engineers and stakeholders
• Experience using agentic coding tools (Cursor, Codex, Claude Code)

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data features for analytics and AI tools like Data Daddy
• Build reliable analytics models and semantic layers for dashboards and experiments
• Develop a semantic layer with reusable metrics and definitions
• Partner with Data Science, ML Engineering, Product and Analytics teams
• Use modern engineering tools to model, test and document data
