Position Summary:
This is the career/senior level of the Operational Visualization job hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in all elements of Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) and advanced analytics concepts. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. Senior Analytics & Visualization Consultant represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years.
Responsibilities:
- Have a strong understanding of end-to-end performance as it relates to customer experiences (Start Service, Billing and Payments, Outage, Repair, Transfer, Stop Service, etc.) and contact center operations.
- Maintain historical and build next-generation Power BI reporting dashboards that capture key performance metrics for business partners, especially after the launch of new cloud-based contact center platforms like Genesys / Elevate 360. Responsible for data analytics and tracking.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, business partners, colleagues, developers, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver user-friendly, dynamic dashboards and reports that provide high-quality analytics solutions.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of datasets to uphold user trust in reporting and ad hoc information, through exploration, validation, and correction.
- Translate data visualizations, models, and findings into strategic insights, providing actionable recommendations to improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
- Present work effectively to users and business leaders, highlighting trends, outliers, and data discoveries. Address stakeholder pain points with tailored data visualization solutions.
- Demo, install, test, and set up Power BI workspaces, datasets, dataflows, dashboards, reports, APIs, and subscriptions.
- Develop and maintain applications using Microsoft Power Apps.
- Automate business processes and workflows with Microsoft Power Automate.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
- Provide technical support and training to users.
- Stay updated with the latest features in the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Lead or contribute to special projects as a team member.
- Use SQL for data wrangling and transformation to prepare data for Power BI.
- Develop statistical models and perform regression analyses to evaluate operational performance, customer sentiment, and economic impacts of various actions.
- Document work and processes for knowledge transfer to junior developers.
Required/Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience, in addition to the degree
Desired Qualifications:
- Expertise in DAX and SQL
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps)
- 6+ years designing, developing, and testing Power BI solutions with emphasis on data modeling and dashboards
- Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging data science and business management
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Focus on data integrity and accuracy
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or MIS
- Master's Degree
- Knowledge of statistics, programming, and predictive modeling
- Experience with data mining or NLP
- Familiarity with scripting languages like SQL or Hive
- Knowledge of analytics tools such as Python, R, SAS, or Power BI
- Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen
- Project management principles
- Experience in the utility and contact center industries
- Customer-specific experience
Working Conditions:
- Remote work after onboarding, within reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.
