Job summary

Cambrex is seeking Senior Associate Scientist or Scientist in Analytical R&D in our Waltham, MA facility. You will join a team delivering high-quality analytical support for synthetic process development projects, with exposure to UHPLC/LC-MS, NMR, KF, GC, and regulatory-compliant testing.

The role requires a BS/MS (3–5+ years) or PhD (0+ years) in chemistry with GMP experience and strong communication skills for client updates and technical reviews. Salary ranges vary by level and experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in chemistry or related field with 3–5+ years of experience (Senior Associate Scientist) or PhD with 0+ years (Scientist).
• Pharmaceutical GMP experience required or desired depending on level.
• Experience in method development, validation, troubleshooting and transfer for pharmaceutical synthetic molecules.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory expectations (FDA, EMA) and ICH guidelines.
• Experience in quality control testing, stability programs, outsourced testing management, and cross-site collaboration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and qualify analytical methods for APIs and intermediates.
• Utilize UHPLC/LC-MS, GC, KF, LC/MS, NMR, TGA, DSC, and particle size analysis.
• Perform moisture content testing (Karl Fischer) and USP compendial tests.
• Support product release, stability studies, and GMP compliance.
• Write and review analytical protocols, reports, and SOPs.
• Lead method transfers between teams and with external partners.
• Interact with Cambrex sites to align analytical strategies.
• Manage outsourced testing with clear scoping and oversight.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior scientists.
