Sanofi is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our analytical group as a senior scientist. The group is part of the synthetic platform within Global CMC Development that is striving to become an industry leader in the development of transformative medicines.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide analytical support to the chemistry teams and to develop analytical methods using equipment including sc-XRD, XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM, Raman and IR. This position is onsite and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop specific and robust analytical methods using equipment including sc-XRD, XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM, Raman and IR and be responsible for validating the methods when necessary
  • Analyze physical properties of solid samples of synthetic small molecules mainly using afore mentioned techniques
  • Perform polymorph screening and salt screening
  • Grow single crystal, collect data from sc-XRD and resolve structure
  • Use computational tool to perform crystal structure determination
  • Generate technical reports independently
  • Develop effective collaborations with others within project teams and between analytical groups
  • Share knowledge and experience of analytical method development for synthetic molecules
  • Introduce innovative analytical approaches to facilitate optimal decision-making
  • Represents the analytical group in CMC projects


About You

Basic Qualifications
  • A PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical science, material science or related fields and 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with the operation of solid-state characterization instruments
  • Experiences in growth of single crystals and crystal structure determination
  • Experiences in analytical method validation
  • Good communications skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical solid properties
  • Demonstrated expertise in crystallography and computational prediction
  • Communicates effectively in individual and group settings and collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Record of collaboration with scientists and other stake-holders at external enterprises
