Almac Group is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist for our Souderton, PA location.
The Senior Analytical Chemist will be a technical leader responsible for executing development, validation, transfer, and routine release and stability activities with minimal supervision. They will also train and lead junior chemists and oversee analytical duties related to specific projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform analytical testing accurately to meet project timelines and budgets, including stability testing, release testing for non-GMP, GMP, and Clinical Services projects.
- Be fully competent in techniques such as HPLC, GC, IR, UV, KF, Dissolution, and classical methods.
- Develop and validate analytical methods supporting API and drug product manufacturing.
- Ensure successful project outcomes by managing analytical activities, adhering to quality metrics.
- Lead laboratory quality systems and process changes, demonstrating leadership in quality and compliance.
- Prepare, review, and approve analytical data and documents, maintaining a culture of Right-First-Time.
- Generate and oversee analytical documents like methods, specifications, and SOPs.
- Support and supervise scheduled chemists and technicians, managing own work schedules and updating the team.
- Minimize deviations, implement corrective actions, and suggest efficiency improvements.
- Identify out-of-specification results and assist in specification and SOP generation.
- Deputize for supervisors when needed and ensure equipment calibration and audit readiness.
- Present analytical data to customers as required.
Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:
- BSc in Analytical Chemistry or related field
- 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with cGMP experience
- Hands-on experience with HPLC and Dissolution
- Experience in writing technical documents and understanding drug development
Preferred Experience / Education:
- Postgraduate qualification
- 10+ years managing projects in a cGMP/pharmaceutical environment
- Extensive experience in analytical chemistry, including GC, FTIR, KF, UV/VIS
- Methods validation, transfer, and qualification expertise
