Job summary

Certified Group in California is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to lead advanced testing of dietary supplement, cosmetics, and related products using HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and other methods. You will generate, interpret, and review data, troubleshoot instruments, and support method development and validation in a GMP/ISO 17025 environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field, at least five years of analytical lab experience, and strong analytical and problem-solving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of analytical laboratory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, instrumentation, and methodologies.
  • GlP, GMP, GDP, ISO 17025 familiarity.
  • Experience with method development, validation, and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Experience training or mentoring laboratory personnel preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with chromatography software and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex analytical testing using HPLC, GC, LC/MS, GC/MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis, FTIR, titration, gravimetric analysis, and other approved methodologies.
  • Prepare samples, standards, reagents, calibration solutions, and quality control materials.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate analytical data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with quality requirements.
  • Identify atypical, out-of-specification (OOS), or questionable results and assist with investigations and corrective actions.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, qualify, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, including IQ/OQ/PQ activities as applicable.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance activities required by ISO 17025 and other accreditation standards.
  • Maintain analytical records, instrument logs, calibration records, and quality documentation in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in the development, optimization, validation, and implementation of analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Draft, revise, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Serve as a technical resource for laboratory personnel and provide guidance on analytical methodologies, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Train and mentor laboratory personnel on laboratory techniques, instrumentation, quality systems, and laboratory procedures.
  • Cross-train across multiple laboratory functions and provide operational support as needed.
  • Assist laboratory leadership with workflow coordination, technical problem solving, and departmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with Quality, Operations, Customer Service, and other departments to support organizational objectives.
  • Plan and prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times, customer expectations, and business needs.
  • Learn and implement new technologies, analytical techniques, and best practices as appropriate.

Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to join our growing team. The Senior Chemist Performs advanced analytical testing of dietary supplement, cosmetic, personal care, and related products using established and emerging analytical methodologies. Responsible for generating, interpreting, and reviewing analytical data; troubleshooting and maintaining instrumentation; supporting method development and validation activities; and serving as a technical resource within the laboratory. Ensures compliance with quality, accreditation, and regulatory requirements while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex analytical testing using techniques including HPLC, GC, LC/MS, GC/MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES,
    UV-Vis, FTIR, titration, gravimetric analysis, and other approved methodologies.
  • Prepare samples, standards, reagents, calibration solutions, and quality control materials in accordance with
    approved procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline required.
  • Minimum five years of analytical laboratory experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, instrumentation, and laboratory methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and ISO 17025 requirements
  • Experience with method development, method validation, and analytical troubleshooting preferred.
  • Experience training or mentoring laboratory personnel preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems, chromatography software, and data acquisition system
Physical Demands:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate laboratory instruments, computers, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform laboratory activities for extended periods.
  • Exposure to laboratory chemicals, solvents, reagents, and analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions including pipetting, weighing, and sample preparation.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Color vision and depth perception required.
  • Work environment may include varying temperatures, laboratory noise, and fast-paced analytical workflow

Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:00PM

Actual pay within this range may vary depending on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location. Additional components of total rewards—such as bonuses, benefits, or incentives—may also apply where applicable.
