Senior Analyst - US Public Finance Municipal Structured Finance - New York (Finance)

Fitch Ratings is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Municipal Structured Finance team in New York. As a leading credit ratings agency, Fitch plays a vital role in global capital markets by providing credit analysis, ratings, research, and commentary.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will work independently, utilizing knowledge of municipal structured finance, including municipal pool transactions, credit-supported VRDOs, Tender Option Bonds, and commercial paper programs. Responsibilities include:

  1. Analyzing transactions and assigning ratings using proprietary models and fundamental credit analysis.
  2. Presenting rating recommendations and participating in rating committee deliberations.
  3. Gathering and analyzing data to produce ratings, credit reports, and research.
  4. Engaging with issuer management, investment bankers, and financial advisors.
  5. Identifying trends, assessing credit impacts, and highlighting these in reports.
  6. Contributing to the development of sector criteria.
  7. Travel may be required; hybrid work schedule with at least three days in the office per week.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in structured or public finance, including pooled transactions.
  • Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or relevant field; professional certifications like CFA or CPA are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in capital markets or structured finance.
  • Knowledge of multiple credit sectors within public finance.
  • Experience with bond pool transactions.
