Job summary

National Grid in the United States seeks a Senior Analyst for its US Market Analytics team, located in Boston or Waltham, MA with a hybrid work model. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related quantitative field.
  • Hands on expertise with production cost modeling and/or capacity expansion modeling.
  • 1–3 years of quantitative analysis experience in a consulting, ISO/RTO, or corporate setting.
  • Proficiency with market modeling tools and building/maintaining workflows around them.
  • Strong Python and Excel skills; ability to automate data ingestion, runs and post processing; dashboards with Power BI.
  • Strong electricity market knowledge including LMP, congestion, capacity markets, and resource adequacy; Eastern Interconnection familiarity preferred.
  • Knowledge of trends in generation, renewables, storage, gas, transmission and their market implications.
  • Clear communicator with stakeholders and ability to explain model assumptions and results.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute forward looking scenarios and quantify implications under uncertainty.
  • Perform production cost and capacity expansion modeling to inform investment cases and long-term plans.
  • Support enhancements to in-house market models and data pipelines with documentation and governance.
  • Synthesize market data to inform inputs, validate outputs, and produce decision-ready dashboards.
  • Explain market dynamics and model mechanics to technical and executive audiences.
  • Partner with internal teams for ad hoc market analysis and what-if modeling.
  • Contribute to modeling best practices, documentation standards, and code reviews.
