As Netflix continues to grow and expand, we are looking for a talented team member to become an integral part of the Tax Transformation team. We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Systems expert to join our team in either Los Angeles or Los Gatos. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a global indirect tax engine to support our global indirect tax teams and product business lines. You will also be responsible for the buildout of automated review procedures for tax rate and rule changes, as well as a comprehensive tax reporting module for indirect compliance and month end close processes.

Role location can be Los Gatos, CA or Hollywood, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of a global indirect tax engine and act as the system administrator post-deployment. Duties include user management, maintaining process documentation, managing custom configurations within the system, logging and investigating issues, and serving as the primary contact for data exports and reporting.
  • Drive projects to optimize global indirect tax processes, such as data collection, reconciliations, compliance, reporting, and system controls.
  • Monitor and implement best practices for tax calculations within the engine and stay current with the latest tax technology and system trends in the global indirect tax space.
  • Collaborate with global tax leads and engineering stakeholders to ensure proper collection and delivery of tax requirements for global indirect tax calculations, reporting, reconciliations, and tax assurance.
  • Identify and address the data needs and challenges of the global indirect tax team, working to centralize and standardize data requirements for compliance and reporting.
  • Prepare business user guides and reference materials for the indirect engine to be leveraged by the global indirect tax team and other business stakeholders.
  • Manage tax rate and rule changes within the tax engine in collaboration with local tax teams.
  • Onboard future lines of business to the global indirect tax engine and work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure both tax and business requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with FinTech and regional tax teams to understand e-invoicing and live reporting requirements and manage necessary system implementations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax departments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Global Indirect Tax systems working with third-party engines (e.g. Vertex or Thomson Reuters Sabrix preferred) and ERP systems.
  • Strong tax technical skills in US sales and use tax, global VAT/GST, and global e-invoicing and live reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience working with global indirect tax advisory and compliance teams.
  • Strong with data management and visualization.
  • Solid understanding of indirect tax accounting principles.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Strong in stakeholder management and cross-functional alignment.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $50,000-240,000.
