Exbo Group is seeking a Tax Analyst in New York to manage corporate income tax compliance and to review returns prepared by an offshore team. You will own the e-file process, connect tax results to financial statements, and resolve tax notices with agencies. This is a growth-focused role in a growing advisory practice.
The ideal candidate is early in their tax career, CPA-ready, with 1–2 years of income tax experience, and eager to expand into sales/use tax, R&D credits, and transaction support.
The Tax Analyst is responsible for corporate income tax compliance work and, over time, for reviewing returns prepared by our offshore team. This is the core of the role and the primary path for technical development.
Beyond income tax, the analyst supports sales and use tax compliance – tracking nexus and registration requirements, supporting filings, and flagging potential exposure – as well as R&D tax credit studies, including identifying qualified research expenses and preparing supporting documentation. These areas offer meaningful opportunities to develop specialized expertise.
As part of a transaction-focused advisory firm, the Analyst gains exposure to the tax aspects of M&A, including how diligence findings, historical exposures, and structuring considerations factor into live transactions.
The ideal candidate is early in their tax career, technically capable, and eager to develop across multiple tax disciplines. Equally important are ownership, reliability, and a willingness to operate beyond a narrowly defined role.
This role offers significant growth and responsibility. Within 12–18 months, the right person will progress from preparing and supporting returns to reviewing them, manage client relationships independently, and develop breadth across sales and use tax, R&D credits, and transaction support, with a clear path to advancement as the practice scales.
We can teach return review, our processes, R&D credit methodology, sales and use tax mechanics, and the tax aspects of transactions. What we can't teach is ownership, judgment, and initiative.
Exbo Group grew out of a $400M New York based venture capital fund and has expanded into a full-service financial advisory firm serving growth-stage companies and middle-market financial sponsors nationwide. We deliver Transaction Services, CFO and Controllership Advisory, and Tax Advisory – and our tax practice is one of our fastest-growing areas.
We are a small team – which means more ownership, more exposure, and more direct impact than you would find at a larger firm.
Exbo Group is an equal opportunity employer. We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture and encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
