Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Austin, TX is seeking an Analyst, Strategic Pricing and Contracts to support pricing strategy, contract terms, and governance across the Medical Devices US Sales Division. This role interfaces with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Legal to maximize profitability and manage risk.

The Lead Analyst will manage contract lifecycle, pricing analysis, ASP optimization, and renewal strategies while ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business/finance or related field.
  • 5-7 years of combined experience in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Prior experience in Medical Devices preferred.
  • Experience with SalesForce, PowerBI, CPQ, CLM (or other contract workflow systems) preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SAP and CoPilot experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional planning discussions to align proposal development, pricing strategy, and contract terms.
  • Support pricing governance throughout the deal lifecycle and ASP optimization.
  • Maintain ownership of contracts for assigned accounts, including renewal optimization.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contractual terms and compliance provisions.
  • Provide strategic guidance on contract structuring aligned with internal policies.
  • Understand contract frameworks (Capital, consignment, GPO) and their financial implications.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Assist with RFPs and RFIs and train sales teams on requirements.

Our team in Austin, TX (or Alpharetta, GA) is looking for a Analyst, Strategic Pricing and Contracts. Working in support of the Medical Devices US Sales Division, the Lead Analyst of Strategic Pricing and Contracts will interface with Sales, Sales Management, Enterprise Accounts Sales personnel, Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, OEC and Legal to apply business management principles and financial concepts that maximize the company’s performance against sales and profit goals and minimize risk.

What You’ll Work On
  • Support cross-functional planning discussions with multiple divisions to align proposal development, pricing strategy, and contract terms.

  • Support pricing governance throughout the deal lifecycle, including pricing analysis, financial impact assessment, Average Selling Price (ASP) optimization, and overall portfolio strategy, while ensuring adherence to internal guidelines.

  • Maintain strategic ownership of contracts for assigned accounts, including lifecycle management, renewal optimization, and Gross Margin Improvement (GMI) execution.

  • Apply knowledge of contract development best practices to draft, review, and negotiate contractual terms, including compliance provisions and rebate program structures.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of business terms and a working knowledge of legal concepts, with the ability to identify and mitigate risk effectively.

  • Provide strategic guidance on contract structuring, ensuring alignment with internal policies and offering practical solutions to meet business objectives.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Contractual frameworks (Capital, consignment, GPO, etc.) including financial implications and their impact on contracting processes and product launches.

  • Leverage artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve workflow efficiency and enhance day-to-day operations.

  • Operate with a strong sense of urgency, effectively managing multiple priorities and meeting customer-driven deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Assist in the execution of formal Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).

  • Assist with training sales team, typically on a day-to-day, deal-to-deal basis, on requirements, policies, and procedures.

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to arrive at a viable solution when challenged with complex situations and customer requests.

  • Possess a sense of urgency and ability to work under customer driven deadlines. This includes the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.

  • Contribute to team development by supporting training initiatives and participating in special projects.

  • Foster collaboration by working effectively in a team-oriented environment with diverse stakeholders and working styles.

  • Participates in special projects and is responsible for other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
  • Bachelors Degree OR An equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of combined experience in business, accounting, or finance.

  • Prior experience in Medical Devices preferred.

  • Experience with SalesForce, PowerBI, CPQ, CLM (or other Conga or Pros contract workflow systems) preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and CoPilot

  • Strong strategic and problem-solving skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with remote sites & business partners including building relationship with sales personnel to be highly effective.

  • Experience with Government Contracting preferred.

  • Prior experience in Medical Devices preferred.

  • Strong quantitative & qualitative analysis, including experience working with large data sets.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, remain organized and work under general supervision.
