Job description

Global technology company is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support its technology finance function, with a focus on the capitalization of internally developed software. This role will help manage the end-to-end software capitalization lifecycle, partnering with stakeholders across Technology, Finance, and Controllership to evaluate technology initiatives, support capitalization decisions, and ensure compliance with company policy and applicable accounting guidance, including ASC 350-40.

The position also supports budgeting and forecasting of capitalization-related costs, analyzes actual results against plan, identifies financial risks and opportunities, and provides actionable insights to leadership. The successful candidate is analytical, collaborative, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and able to translate complex technology initiatives into financial and accounting implications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate software development initiatives and capitalization requests, applying company policy and relevant accounting guidance to determine capitalization eligibility.
  • Own complex processes and business challenges by identifying risks and opportunities, evaluating potential solutions, and driving issues through resolution.
  • Partner with Technology, Product, Program Management, Finance, and Controllership teams to support capitalization decisions and maintain compliance with applicable policies and accounting guidance.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve business, operational, and data-quality issues while balancing stakeholder needs, financial requirements, and control expectations.
  • Assist with annual budgets and monthly forecasts related to software capitalization and support broader planning and forecasting activities.
  • Prepare financial reporting and management insights, including analysis of actual results, key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify and lead process improvements across budgeting, forecasting, reporting systems, and capitalization processes; develop recommendations, influence stakeholders, and implement agreed-upon changes.
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate trends and business issues; respond to ad hoc financial requests and help develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain and enhance performance, capitalization, and expense-tracking reports to improve insight, transparency, and accountability.
  • Advise business and technology stakeholders by translating complex technical initiatives into financial and accounting impacts.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field required.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, technology finance, controllership, or a related field. Candidates with greater experience and demonstrated process ownership are strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting software capitalization, technology finance, or technology accounting processes is a plus.
  • Ability to learn and understand complex technologies, business processes, and system interdependencies to assess financial and operational impacts.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to apply policies, accounting guidance, and controls to complex or evolving business scenarios.
  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills, including the ability to translate complex financial and technical information into actionable insights and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis of financial results.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own complex business processes, think critically, develop well-reasoned recommendations, and drive solutions to completion with limited direction.
  • Self-directed approach, strong sense of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and ability to challenge assumptions, navigate ambiguity, and influence outcomes through analysis and proactive problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required. Experience with Hyperion, Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Power Automate, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work in accordance with a hybrid in-office policy.
