Job description

We are driven to do more. More for our customers and the financial professionals who offer our products. If you are driven to do more and love the challenge of pursuing more, Athene is your kind of company. You will find we offer more than the basics to create an inclusive and dynamic work environment at our various locations.

Purpose

The Derivative Operations team is responsible for managing the operational aspects of Athene's Derivative investment and hedging strategy. The Senior Derivative Operations Analyst will have responsibilities associated with derivative middle-office trade support, data management, investment accounting oversight, and derivative legal compliance. Additionally, the incumbent will play a key role in managing the design of systems and processes being developed to support growth and change within the organization. This position will evolve into the Derivative Operations team's SME for both in-house and vendor-supplied systems, playing a key role in enhancing those systems to improve utilization and efficiency. The role will demand the ability balance both production and project responsibilities – performing derivative trade lifecycle functions and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders while also defining and supporting projects to drive the strategy of the department and the wider organization.

Accountabilities
  • Work closely with Derivative Portfolio Management, Derivative Trading, Legal, Treasury, and Investment Accounting to support end-to-end trade processing and data management for a variety of derivative products.
  • Work closely with foreign and domestic investment banks to manage settlements associated with all derivative trade events associated with OTC options, swaps, and foreign exchanges.
  • Perform data management functions to ensure appropriate flow of data into internal trade execution and capture platforms, and downstream to accounting, reporting, and other stakeholder platforms.
  • Oversee daily cash flow reconciliations and escalated resolution with internal and external parties.
  • Serve as point of escalation for trade and data breaks, provide direction to resolve complex issues with internal and external stakeholders, and incorporate new processes to mitigate risk of repeated issues.
  • Assist management with operational support for strategic initiatives and projects, including the implementation of new processes, systems, investment products, and hedging strategies.
  • Serve as Derivative Operations systems subject matter expert, working closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Developers to support the maintenance and enhancement of operational platforms – proactively seeking out ways to identify inefficiencies and improve current processes.
  • Oversee third-party providers, analyzing complex issues, and coordinating with them to resolve any issues which arise.
  • Develop and enhance a culture of prudent risk management within the team and wider organization.
  • Management and analysis of legal-document trading agreements; understanding differences among ISDAs, CSAs, MCAs and associated agreements across different legal entities and trading partners.
  • Support regulatory events/changes, industry initiatives, and market trends which may impact the business and/or offer opportunities to improve systems/processes.
  • Review trade bookings and legal trade documentation to ensure trades flow correctly for confirmation or to downstream systems.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (in Business, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, MIS, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience required.
  • 4+ years of progressive responsibility and experience in finance, accounting, or related industry required.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with derivative post-trade workflows required.
  • Experience using MarkitWire/MTM, Triana, PAM/PFI, and/or GTSS/CLS.
  • Prior experience writing business cases, defining business requirements, and/or overseeing projects as a business user.
  • Experience with vendor platforms such as Fusion Invest (Sophis) and Kyriba is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel required. VBA/SQL/Tableau/Power BI experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of derivative and/or fixed income products, and how they fit with investment and hedging principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb work ethic, highly detail-oriented, well-organized, assertive, self-motivated, and able to prioritize multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced changing environment.
Compensation

$85,932.00 - $128,898.00 USD Annual

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
