Job summary

Altria is seeking a Senior Analyst, Category Management in the Greater Richmond, VA area to shape sourcing strategies for direct materials and manage supplier relationships within a Fortune 500 environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop category plans, drive supplier performance, and support manufacturing continuity through data-driven decisions and market insights.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years leading direct material sourcing or category strategies supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in regulated environments preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient in spend analysis, cost modeling, supplier evaluations, and case development.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and build partnerships without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Quality, Product Development, Packaging, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Operations to ensure supplier and material compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor category strategies to enhance supply security and drive cost improvements.
  • Evaluate sourcing opportunities with market intelligence and supplier benchmarking.
  • Develop supplier relationships and support negotiations to optimize quality, service, and cost.
  • Analyze supplier performance, market trends, and risks to drive mitigation strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing, supplier transitions, and process improvements across multiple workstreams.

If so, we want to speak with you about joining our Strategic Sourcing team as a Senior Analyst, Category Management in the Greater Richmond, VA area!

In this role, you will support direct material categories critical to product manufacturing, quality, and supply continuity. Working closely with suppliers and internal business partners, you will help develop sourcing strategies, drive procurement initiatives, analyze market opportunities, and support supplier performance to ensure business objectives are achieved. This position offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while building expertise in category management, strategic sourcing, and supply chain operations within a Fortune 500 environment.

What you will be doing:
  • Collaborating with Quality, Product Development, Packaging, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Operations teams to ensure supplier and material compliance with business requirements.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of category strategies to enhance supply security, achieve financial objectives, and drive long-term category growth.
  • Demonstrating procurement expertise and market intelligence to evaluate sourcing opportunities and identify best-value supplier solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining supplier relationships while supporting negotiations to optimize quality, service, innovation, and cost outcomes.
  • Analyzing supplier performance, market trends, and supply risks to find opportunities, address challenges, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives by finding opportunities to streamline products, suppliers, and procurement processes.
  • Conducting spend analysis, financial modeling, supplier benchmarking, and data-driven evaluations to support sourcing decisions and category recommendations.
  • Leading and supporting cross-functional sourcing, supplier transition, product launch, and process improvement projects while leading multiple workstreams efficiently.
We want you to have:
  • Experience sourcing direct materials, including raw materials, packaging materials, ingredients, components, or related production categories; experience in a regulated environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of leading direct material sourcing, supplier relationships, or category strategies supporting manufacturing operations, product supply, and production continuity.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and projects while delivering effective written, verbal, and presentation communications.
  • Strong financial competence with experience performing spend analysis, cost modeling, supplier evaluations, and case development.
  • Experience supporting focused sourcing, supplier coordination, category supervision, or purchasing programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of supplier relationship management, sourcing methodologies, negotiation practices, and category management principles.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective partnerships with internal and external partners without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable recommendations.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00.
