Job summary

Edward Jones is seeking a Partner Consultant to work with Financial Advisors and branch teams to optimize partner relationships and teaming opportunities. You will advise on retirement planning, compensation strategy, and educational needs while developing materials and webinars to elevate understanding of FA Teaming.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 2–6 years of applicable experience, and strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred; business degree acceptable.
  • 2-6 years of relevant work experience (customer service, accounting, financial services, or Edward Jones experience).
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, including business models and compensation structures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complexity and deliver clear messages.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Capable of assisting the leader in managing workflow and can act in a leadership capacity in the absence of a leader.
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced, consultative environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with individual FAs and FA teams to help them make business decisions about partner relationships and practice.
  • Identify policy, education and program opportunities for partner models and FA teaming.
  • Lead consultations with FAs delivering customized models for informed teaming decisions.
  • Conduct structured discovery to assess FA and FA team dynamics.
  • Create education materials and host webinars to raise understanding of FA Teaming.
  • Build relationships with Financial Advisors as a trusted consultant.
  • Research questions with depth and research various sources to resolve complex needs.

Overview:

The Partner Consultation Group focuses on maximizing the value to each partner type at Edward Jones by providing both proactive and reactive support, guidance and education. You will be at the forefront of transforming wealth management practices—bringing a strategic, forward thinking mindset as you partner directly with branch teams to unlock growth in order to build enduring, high performing practices.

As a Partner Consultant, you will be responsible for consulting with individual FAs and FA teams in order to help them feel confident to make business decisions about their partner relationship with the firm and business decisions about their practice. Additionally, you will play an integral role in identifying policy, education and program opportunities for partner models and FA teaming.

The Partnership Consultant will:
  • Support escalated and complex situations regarding any of the partner types which may include delivering sensitive messages and guidance about:
    • Retirement/Succession planning
    • FA teaming compensation strategy
    • Partner earnings
    • Retirement savings options
    • Tax planning
    • Eligibility for offerings
  • Lead consultations with FAs delivering customized models to help the FAs to make informed decisions regarding the FA Teaming opportunity
  • Conduct structured discovery to assess FA and FA team dynamics
  • Use complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills to resolve situations
  • Strive to continually build and deepen their business acumen/knowledge of each of the partner types in order to be a subject matter expert.
  • Create education and communication material to raise the level of understanding of FA Teaming. Partnership Consultants will create and host webinars.
  • Build strong relationships with Financial Advisors to be seen as a trusted consultant to our partners
  • Draw information from multiple sources to identify, analyze, and resolve complex needs.
  • Keep up to date on changes in tax laws, partnership agreements, processes or information necessary to provide accurate advice and guidance
  • Identify trends, insights and needs of partners, proposing solutions and implementing changes.
  • Act as a resource for other associates.
  • Act as a trainer for new associates by building and maintaining the training material and topical resources.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of department topics to research questions which vary in detail and level of complexity.
  • Deliver consistent, high quality consulting experiences while continuously refining approaches and building expertise.
What you’ll need:
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred. A Business degree is acceptable. CPA or international country equivalent (CA, CGA, or CMA) or working towards designation is a plus.
  • 2-6 years of relevant work experience is required (Customer service, accounting, financial services industry, or Edward Jones experience).
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, including business models and compensation structures.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and deliver clear, impactful messages
    • High level of discretion, judgement and professionalism.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Capable of assisting the leader in managing workflow and can act in a leadership capacity in the absence of a leader
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced, consultative environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
