Job summary
Brunswick Fort Wayne is seeking a welding engineering expert to sustain and advance aluminum pontoon boat chassis, applying metallurgy and failure analysis to improve durability. You’ll design fixtures, implement automated weld cells, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive lean improvements and support new product introductions. The role requires strong welding expertise, CAD skills, and factory-floor leadership.
Qualifications
7+ years of technical experience in a fabrication engineering department.
Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering (WE), Welding Engineering Technology (WET), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), or Manufacturing Engineering.
Strong expertise in welding processes, welding equipment and welding recipes including metallurgy (preferably aluminum).
Programming experience with weld robots and other types of automation.
Strong MS-Office, especially Excel.
3D CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred; use 3D models to program equipment and fixtures.
Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Problem solving, innovation, teamwork and self-motivation.
Responsibilities
Provide production support to the manufacturing team.
Resolve safety, quality, delivery and productivity issues.
Provide technical support for fabrication equipment (manual and robotic welders, sheet rollers, etc.).
Design and implement fixtures and tools to improve quality and throughput.
Analyze throughput and apply lean improvements (time studies, line balancing).
Create and maintain process documentation and labor standards.
Engage in NPD/NPI to ensure DFM.
Lead manufacturing readiness for new product introductions.
