Job summary

State of Delaware is seeking a Police Officer III to conduct civil and criminal investigations, including complex cases, and to enforce liquor, tobacco, and related statutes. The role involves undercover work, sting operations, and drafting search warrants or arrest warrants as needed.

The incumbent will inspect establishments, draft reports, and coordinate with multiple agencies while providing training input.

Qualifications

• Active State of Delaware Council on Police Training Certificate or eligibility for recertification per Delaware Administrative Code Title 1, Chapter 801, Section 8.0 Re-activation Requirements of Police Officers.
• At least three years experience as a Certified Police Officer.
• Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
• Three years experience in conducting investigations including interviewing to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence and documenting findings.
• Three years experience in ensuring compliance with alcohol and tobacco laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of staff training.

Responsibilities

• Exhaustive follow-up investigation of all evidence, tips and sources of information.
• Coordination between multiple agencies.
• Conducts Statewide Beverage Server Training classes, administers tests and issues server identification cards.
• Conducts civil and criminal investigations including complex investigations such as hidden ownership, three-tier system violations, etc.
• Conducts sting operations.
• Inspections of liquor establishments and warehouse inventory audits.
• Overseeing/field training of lower level agents and providing input on agent performance.
• Makes arrests, completes investigative and compliance reports for court and ATEC.
