Job summary

Garmin in Salem, Oregon is seeking a Senior Aircraft Systems Engineer - Systems Safety to provide technical leadership in the development and certification of avionics installations. The role requires a aviation background and experience with FAA certification processes.

You will lead certification activities, develop STC designs, and coordinate with FAA, Garmin teams, and customers to ensure compliant, timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience working on avionics design, installation and FAA certification.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills and ability to work with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for certification activities with FAA, Garmin groups, and customers.
• Lead or certify STC designs including installation and safety considerations.
• Create or review certification plans, test reports, and compliance data.
• Coordinate with external customers and internal teams to meet project goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and support development of system safety documentation.
