Job summary

Tyonek Native Corp is seeking an experienced mechanical and structural engineer to lead the integration of avionics and weapons systems into multiple aircraft platforms, including rotary and fixed wing, for US DoD and commercial customers.

The role may include technical leadership during design and test phases, requiring strong knowledge of airworthiness processes and the ability to communicate with authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• At least 8 years related experience is required.
• Experience in aircraft structures design including sheet metal, machined and composite parts.
• Understanding of aircraft structures, load paths and crash loads considerations.
• Knowledge of DoD aerospace practices, MIL-STD and relevant standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD data packages including 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Design solutions for mechanical issues in rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft with weight, thermal, vibration, corrosion and airworthiness considerations.
• Perform classical and Finite Element Analysis.
• Write specifications, engineering analyses and reports for airworthiness certification.
• Coordinate with manufacturing engineering to improve design efficiency.
• Support manufacturing during production and develop installation instructions.
• Provide engineering support during prototype, validation and verification of aircraft modifications.
• Review installations for conformance to design and apply DoD/FAA airworthiness processes.
