Job summary

Thrush Aircraft is seeking a Manager of Design Engineering in Albany, GA to lead the design engineering team onsite. The role focuses on ensuring safety, accuracy, and timely product design releases while bridging engineering strategy with hands-on production support.

The position requires a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, extensive leadership experience, and proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks). A comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; OR a Master's degree with more than 5 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of explicit management or supervisory experience leading engineering teams.
• Experience with FAR Part 23 or Part 25 certification requirements.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware, and aircraft maintenance operations.
• Ability to work well in a tight-knit team and under pressure.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design engineering team and oversee execution of project plans.
• Create and maintain complex project schedules for design, development, and manufacturing.
• Present and coordinate project schedules with other departments and managers.
• Manage interfaces with the FAA and DERs.
• Lead department-wide improvement initiatives for efficient processes.
• Hire, train, and develop engineering personnel; track shop performance.
• Manage budgets, schedules, systems, and engineering resources.
• Collaborate with managers, suppliers, and contractors.
