Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Environmental Engineer to develop and execute air permitting strategies across SpaceX sites. The role requires deep knowledge of the Clean Air Act and related regulations, with responsibilities spanning audits, regulator coordination, and contractor management.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree and 12+ years in EHS leadership, with master’s degree preferred. Relocation to a SpaceX facility in Texas is required if not local.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 12+ years in design, development and oversight of EHS disciplines.
• Master’s degree preferred in environmental management or environmental engineering.
• Experience with Clean Air Act, NSPS, NESHAP, PSD, and Title V.
• Permitting execution at complex sites and collaboration with regulators.
• Strong communication and data interpretation skills.
• Experience with emissions calculations and air dispersion modeling.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute site-specific air permitting strategies at SpaceX sites
• Review equipment and programs to meet regulatory requirements
• Serve as SME on the Clean Air Act and federal/state regulations
• Track and interpret new and proposed air regulations and provide guidance
• Conduct internal air compliance audits and support inspections
• Coordinate and manage contractors for permitting and testing
• Maintain relationships with regulators and engineering teams
