Job summary

Airwallex is hiring for an AI Tooling Platform Engineer in Melbourne or Sydney. You’ll design, build, and operate the internal AI tooling platform used by global teams, enabling secure internal apps and automation. You’ll work with security and engineering on scalable solutions and cloud infrastructure.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product teams, and help scale the platform while maintaining strong controls across a rapidly growing company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with production code bases.
• Proficient in Python and at least one systems language (Go/C/C++).
• Experience with cloud infra, data pipelines, serverless, and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem solving and deep-dive capabilities.
• Preferred: experience in AI tooling and high-growth tech.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of AI tools and applications from inception to implementation.
• Support incident response by building ad-hoc threat hunting tools and scanners.
• Build, monitor, and maintain infrastructure including Kubernetes clusters and ETL pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify automation opportunities and tooling.
• Partner with product teams to drive security outcomes and risk reduction.
• Mentor and grow other Software Engineers in the team.
