Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Sr Software Engineer for Applied AI and Test Automation in Cupertino to lead the design and delivery of advanced camera validation systems.

You will work with QA, camera software engineering, and lab infrastructure to scale automated testing for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV camera software. You will apply AI/ML, multimodal evaluation, and robotic automation to improve defect detection and release throughput, while mentoring peers and shaping validation strategies

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering and architecture experience.
• 2+ years building and evaluating modern AI/ML and agentic technologies for validation.
• Strong track record of designing and operating effective software test automation solutions.
• Deep knowledge of QA testing methodologies and strategy.
• Experience automating/validating software against physical hardware and lab environments.
• Experience building and operating automated test execution at scale (CI/CD pipelines).
• Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and giving constructive feedback.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Swift, Objective-C, or C++.
• BS/MS/PhD in CS/AI/EE or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design of next-generation camera validation systems from prototype to production.
• Design and ship automated validation across the capture path for UI and capture metadata.
• Build AI-assisted triage that clusters and attributes test failures.
• Improve reliability by diagnosing flaky tests and reducing failure classes.
• Coordinate with QA, Camera software engineering, product management, and lab infra teams.
• Mentor engineers through design and code reviews.
