Job summary

Umain is seeking an AI Tech Director to lead our AI program in North America, guiding senior client engagements and defining the technical direction for complex AI projects. You’ll collaborate with strategy, design and marketing to turn strategy into production-grade AI solutions.

You will mentor engineers, shape proposals, and drive delivery while ensuring safety, practicality, and architectural excellence across GenAI, retrieval and multi-model architectures.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with hands-on AI work
• Several years in consulting or agency environments, direct client work
• Commercial expertise: shaping and pricing proposals, scoping work
• Track record of architecting and delivering complex AI solutions
• Hands-on experience with GenAI tools, embeddings, vectors, and retrieval
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills; backend and data pipelines
• Experience deploying apps on AWS/Azure/GCP with DevOps habits

Responsibilities

• Lead technology and AI conversations with senior client stakeholders (CTO level)
• Set technical vision and architecture standards across AI projects
• Mentor AI engineers and drive architectural decisions and quality
• Contribute to pitches, proposals, scope, and budgets with commercial teams
• Balance innovative AI work with practical, safe, and producible solutions
• Oversee end-to-end delivery from idea to production and manage risks
