Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital seeks a Senior AI Engineer to lead advanced AI models, including LLMs and multi-modal foundation models, and the secure HPC infrastructure that powers them.

The role is hands-on and high-ownership, focusing on evaluation, fine-tuning, deployment, benchmarking, safety guardrails, and data security. Onsite in Memphis, TN, reporting to the Director of HPRC. Experience in biomedical research is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field.
• PhD in related field preferred.
• 4+ years designing and developing large-scale AI/ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs and implement AI-enabled services on high-performance AI platforms.
• Collaborate with scientists, analysts, IS professionals to design AI solutions.
• Build innovative data science and AI/ML solutions for non-trivial problems.
• Develop AI demonstrations, workshops, and training materials.
• Evaluate AI/ML approaches and data analytics to solve business problems.
• Define standards and procedures for AI solutions and systems.
• Document architecture roadmaps and reference architectures.
• Communicate clearly with customers, teams, and vendors.
• Stay current with new AI technologies and adapt as needed.
• Perform other duties to meet department goals.
