UnternehmerTUM GmbH’s appliedAI Initiative is elevating Europe’s industry by delivering production AI solutions for complex, regulated clients. The role owns end-to-end AI delivery, setting engineering standards and guiding the team toward robust, scalable systems.

You will mentor engineers, architect production-grade AI pipelines, and collaborate with engagement leads to maximize value. A strong background in AI/ML in production and cloud-native architectures is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years building and operating AI/ML systems in production environments.
• Deep engineering foundation across distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, cloud-native architecture, containers, CI/CD, and MLOps.
• Fluent in English; working proficiency in German is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Architecting and implementing production-grade AI solutions for industrial clients across ML, GenAI, validated RAG, and agentic systems, with OT/edge constraints and on-prem/hybrid deployments.
• Defining engineering standards: code quality, design reviews, evaluation harnesses, observability, security, and MLOps.
• Leading technical delivery from target architecture through production hardening and client handover.
• Building reusable accelerators: templates, libraries, and evaluation frameworks.
• Mentoring mid-level and senior engineers, facilitating technical guilds, fostering ongoing improvement.
