Job summary

Capital One seeks a Sr. Lead AI Engineer in McLean, VA to design, build and scale AI-powered systems that transform how we serve customers. You will partner with engineers, researchers and product teams to deploy foundation models, LLM inference, vector search and guardrails in production.

You will drive optimization for latency, throughput and cost, contribute to the technical vision, and mentor engineers while delivering robust, responsible AI solutions at scale for banking applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE with relevant experience
• 6+ years programming in Python/Go/Scala/Java
• Experience deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch)
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production AI systems
• Contribute to the long-term technical vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems
