Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Senior AI Software Developer to modernize mission-critical air traffic systems for a federal customer. You will architect, develop, and deliver software while collaborating with systems engineering, product management, and DevSecOps teams.

You will build and improve microservices-based applications in a collaborative Agile/SAFe environment, emphasizing AI-assisted development and data-driven tech. Hybrid work with three days on-site in Egg Harbor Township, NJ."

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a technical field.
• 8+ years of software development experience, or 6+ years with a Master's.
• Experience designing, building, and supporting microservices architectures.
• Strong programming experience in Java, Python, C++, or similar in Linux environments.
• Exposure to AI-enabled applications, ML solutions, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience in Agile software development environments.
• Understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and SOA.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile sprint planning to define priorities, deliverables, and goals.
• Mentor development teams and promote best practices.
• Design, develop, and support scalable microservices-based applications.
• Collaborate within SAFe Agile framework with product owners and architects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives.
• Translate requirements into software solutions with engineering teams.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable, testable code with DevSecOps and CI/CD standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and key technical directions.
• Build integrations with databases, messaging platforms, and external services via APIs.
• Coordinate with QA, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure stable delivery.
• Implement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve coding efficiency and testing.
