Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI invites applications for an AI Red Team Engineer on the AI Security team. The role focuses on adversary emulation against AI-enabled platforms used in national security contexts.

You’ll work across Windows and Linux environments, build offensive cyber capabilities, and contribute to real-world security improvements. Applicants should have strong penetration testing experience, relevant certifications, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• BS in computer science, software engineering, networking or related technical field with extensive experience.
• Experience in penetration testing, red teaming, or exploit development.
• Hands-on experience with command-and-control frameworks (e.g., Cobalt Strike, Sliver).
• Proficient in Python, C, and BASH; willingness to learn PowerShell.
• Experience with reverse engineering tools (Ghidra, IDA Pro).
• Strong TCP/IP knowledge and ability to analyze network protocols.

Responsibilities

• Red team real-world AI-enabled systems to support national security objectives.
• Develop new TTPs for attacking AI-enabled systems and related software.
• Write tools in Python, PowerShell, C, and BASH for red team operations.
• Represent CERT technical portfolio and collaborate with internal and external partners.
