Job summary

Avathon in Pleasanton, CA, is hiring a Senior AI Scientist focused on transportation and logistics. You will lead the design and deployment of optimization and machine learning systems across multimodal logistics networks, including routing, scheduling, and demand forecasting.

The role requires a PhD and 10–15+ years in AI/ML or optimization, with strong Python and optimization tools expertise. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable AI solutions

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Math, or related quantitative field
• 10–15+ years of AI/ML or optimization experience or supply chain planning systems
• Strong expertise in Python (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and optimization tools

Responsibilities

• AI/ML model development for fleet optimization, VRP variants, demand forecasting
• Transportation domain solutions including vessel scheduling and container repositioning
• AI engineering & deployment: productionize models, scalable cloud-native architectures
• Data & feature engineering from shipment, GPS/telematics, weather, port congestion data
• Leadership: lead AI initiatives, mentor junior scientists, define roadmaps with stakeholders
