Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed within enterprise customer teams and deliver AI-powered production systems from prototype to production. You will own the end-to-end outcomes, build scalable architectures, and drive measurable customer business results.

In this role, you'll design production-grade software, mentor engineers, and help codify reusable AI patterns.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams. Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable AI-enabled production systems. Requires 30 - 50% travel.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows: orchestration layers for multi-agent systems, retrieval pipelines, workflow automation, decision intelligence.
• Own production from design through production rollout and operationalization with monitoring, guardrails, and CI/CD.
• Accelerate customer transformation by codifying reusable patterns and reference architectures.
• Raise the bar by mentoring engineers and contributing to AWS engineering best practices for AI and forward deployment.
