Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect and deliver production systems powering enterprise cloud migrations at scale.

You will own multi-agent AI components and lead cross-engineer projects inside a product-driven organization, mentoring others while delivering customer outcomes. This hands-on role requires shipping code daily, guiding design decisions, and maintaining operational excellence across services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization of model execution.

Responsibilities

• Own team-level architecture — design systems that are simple, extensible, and operationally sound.
• Influence design and technical decisions beyond your team, contributing to org-wide standards.
• Lead projects spanning multiple engineers; drive execution from design through production deployment.
• Design and build agentic AI components — agent logic, orchestration workflows, evaluation pipelines, or APIs.
• Write production code daily — spend the majority of time building.
• Set engineering standards on your team: code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response.
• Solve complex distributed systems problems with trade-offs on latency, consistency, extensibility, and cost.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical debt; simplify systems.
• Mentor engineers; provide code reviews, design guidance, and career coaching.
• Communicate designs in writing — docs, RFCs, architecture records.
• Drive operational excellence: alarms, runbooks, dashboards, and incident learning.
• Travel ~5% to customer sites and partner team locations.
