Job summary

Altimate AI in San Francisco is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead backend systems and AI data-product infrastructure. You will design high-performance services, scale databases, and integrate AI capabilities into data teams’ daily workflows.

This role emphasizes server-side languages, cloud infrastructure, and API design, with a path toward influencing product architecture and open-source contributions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building Python-based web application backends and the infrastructure on which they run.
• Extensive experience in building scalable back-end systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including query profiling, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience with FastAPI for building high-performance APIs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Backend integration of LLM architectures powering RAG, ReAct, and agent-based systems.
• Design and implement graph-based data structures to model complex data stores for AI workflows.
• Develop an intelligent SQL ecosystem with query profiling, AST analysis, and data lineage tracking.
