Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the SMAI Platform Engineering team in Boise, Idaho. This hands‑on role builds and maintains the platforms that power Micron's analytics and AI workloads, focusing on reliability and scalability.

You will collaborate across global teams, work with IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Terraform, and contribute to secure, observable, cost‑efficient platform operations while enabling AI‑driven solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2–4 years of Platform Administration and/or Cloud Engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Kafka and Kubernetes in production.
• Experience administering public cloud platforms and using Terraform IaC.
• Familiarity with ML/AI concepts supporting AI/ML workloads.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with global platform teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Know the latest platform roadmaps, technologies, and new service offerings; evaluate adoption opportunities.
• Partner with solution architects to design, implement, and optimize solutions across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Terraform.
• Document findings, procedures, guidelines, and reusable patterns; provide feedback to vendors and internal teams.
• Deliver high-quality platform support by managing customer requests and maintaining service standards.
• Monitor platform performance, observability, costs, and resource utilization for optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable architectures and automation, including AI‑driven solutions.
• Implement and maintain security controls, including RBAC and industry‑standard frameworks.
