Job summary

Aura, a leading AI safety company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own critical infrastructure for Aura's AI Intelligence Platform. You will work in Python and TypeScript on AWS, building scalable, privacy-first systems that serve millions of users.

You will design architecture for core platform components, guide cross-team technical decisions, and mentor engineers while upholding security and privacy as top priorities. Join a fast-evolving AI team shaping safer digital experiences.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• End-to-end ownership on complex projects from architecture through production.
• Strong knowledge of design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Cloud expertise with appropriate tool choices (e.g., AWS, IaC).
• Experience building systems that protect sensitive data with security and privacy as design constraints.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building AI/LLM-powered systems in production.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms and data-intensive systems.
• Experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Design and drive the architecture for key platform components, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and alignment with business goals.
• Own complex initiatives from design and architecture through development, deployment, and iteration.
• Build the foundation that unifies Aura's data into a trusted, high-quality source for generating intelligence.
• Architect how AI agents access and reason over sensitive data with least-privilege access and strong isolation.
• Build systems that turn intelligence into personalized insights and actions for customers.
• Make high-leverage technology choices across the stack balancing scalability, cost, and operability.
• Champion engineering practices for security, privacy, observability, testing, and reliability.
• Serve as a technical mentor, guiding design challenges and performance tuning.
