Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for AI/ML Security to own the architectural strategy for Model Armor and Sensitive Data Protection, securing LLMs against prompt injections and data leakage at scale.

You will lead design of scalable, low-latency systems, align roadmaps across Google Cloud, DeepMind and other teams, and mentor engineers while navigating ambiguity.

This role emphasizes in-person interviews and a comprehensive benefits package for US-based employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with industry-scale ML infrastructure.
• 5 years of experience with one or more: speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or related ML field.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; testing/launching software products.
• 5 years of experience in Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical goal and architectural strategy for model armor and sensitive data protection, ensuring Google Cloud remains a leader in generative AI security.
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, low-latency systems to detect and mitigate threats such as prompt injection and data leakage across enterprise environments.
• Act as a principal technical influencer to align security roadmaps across Google Cloud, DeepMind, and other product areas.
• Resolve technical disagreements among engineers and researchers, forging consensus to deliver on cross-functional objectives across time zones.
• Partner with executive leadership to evaluate ML security research and mentor staff and engineers.
