Job description

We're the AI Center of Excellence within the Chief Data and Analytics Office. We work on projects that enable AI practitioners to build AI products quickly and confidently. We tackle open problems around AI safety and evaluations, including finding vulnerabilities in Gen AI applications through an automated adversarial testing service. We are looking for technically sharp, effective communicators to help design and deploy this service.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop complex queries and perform extensive programming to access, transform, and prepare data for statistical modeling.
• Lead and execute deep‑dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data‑driven business decision making.
• Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, document data assumptions, and work to fill data gaps.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes, develop hypotheses, and translate requirements into analytic approaches.
• Guide test design, research design, and model validation; provide statistical consultation services; serve as the analytics expert on cross‑functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
• Prepare and deliver insight presentations and action recommendations, communicating complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of related analytical work experience, with strong data wrangling and programming skills to access, transform, and prepare large‑scale data for statistical modeling.
• Experience utilizing statistical and machine learning methods.
• Undergraduate degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related analytical field of study, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A graduate degree is preferred.
