Job summary

The Allen Institute seeks a Senior Software Engineer for AI/ML Platforms and Infrastructure in Seattle, WA. You will architect and deliver cloud-based training and inference services, working with neuroscientists and data scientists to enable large-scale biological models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years architecting, implementing, and supporting AI/ML platforms and infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Jira for project management and tracking tasks.
• Proficiency with Python and shell scripting for automation and tooling.
• Proficiency with Git for source control and collaboration.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud-based and on-premise AI/ML platforms and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with partners to train models using sensitive data and explore federated learning feasibility.
• Guide benchmarking, optimization, and cost-management for ML software and infrastructure.
• Provide AI workflow expertise to science and engineering teams in Brain Health.
• Define requirements, scope, and priorities with stakeholders and partners.
• Mentor team members and drive best practices across the organization.
