Job summary

Absentia Labs is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the design, training, and deployment of large-scale models including LLMs, diffusion models, and Graph Neural Networks. You will own training pipelines and influence architecture and scaling.

The role requires production experience, deep ML systems expertise, and the ability to translate complex science into reliable software, with strong collaboration across data and infra teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in ML or applied AI.
• Experience training large-scale models in production.
• Hands-on with LLMs, diffusion models, and/or GNNs.
• Proficient in PyTorch or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of distributed training and parallelism.
• Experience with large datasets and high-throughput pipelines.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: testing and reproducibility.
• Ability to communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and evaluate large-scale models including LLMs and GNNs.
• Own end-to-end training pipelines from data interfaces to distributed training.
• Decide on architecture, objectives, optimization, and scaling laws.
• Build and optimize distributed training systems (data/model parallelism, sharding).
• Collaborate with data engineers to define ML-ready datasets and streaming interfaces.
• Translate scientific or product requirements into robust ML solutions.
• Drive model evaluation, ablation, and reproducibility.
• Contribute to model serving and inference efficiency decisions.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and mentorship.
