Job summary

SiMa.ai in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to work closely with strategic customers, building robotics, autonomous systems, and edge AI solutions on the SiMa Modalix platform. This is a highly customer-facing technical role blending application engineering, solution architecture, AI software optimization, and leadership.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in field or related roles and strong Python/C++ skills with hands-on experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV;

Qualifications

• 6–8 years in field applications, applications, solutions or related customer-facing roles.
• Strong software development experience with Python and C++.
• Experience developing AI, computer vision, robotics, autonomous systems, or embedded software.
• Hands-on with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX Runtime, or OpenCV.
• Experience with embedded Linux systems, heterogeneous compute platforms, or AI accelerators preferred.
• Strong understanding of AI inference optimization, model deployment and edge AI workflows.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating and deploying AI applications on the SiMa Modalix platform.
• Lead customer engagements from discovery through proof-of-concept, design-in, deployment, and production.
• Architect and develop reference applications, demos, and solution accelerators for robotics and computer vision use cases.
• Help customers integrate AI models, perception pipelines, AI agents, and robotics software stacks.
• Optimize application performance, latency, power efficiency, and overall system performance on SiMa hardware.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration challenges and provide timely resolution.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to relay customer requirements and influence roadmap.
• Create technical docs, tutorials, and training materials; deliver workshops and demonstrations.
• Support customer evaluations, benchmarks, and competitive positioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
