Base pay range

$90.00/hr - $105.00/hr

The rate is $90 to $105 per hour

We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead modernization efforts for legacy mainframe systems, transforming them into AI-enabled, cloud-native platforms for next-generation digital wealth solutions. This role blends deep technical expertise with strategic collaboration, providing an opportunity to drive high-impact changes in a regulated financial environment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating both hands-on coding and executive-level conversations, able to translate modernization strategies into tangible solutions across complex systems.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the transformation of mainframe applications related to wealth management functions such as account servicing, trade settlement, data aggregation, and portfolio reporting.
• Apply AI and machine learning tools to support code analysis, refactoring, and optimization during modernization.
• Migrate COBOL and VSAM-based components into scalable microservices using Java and Python.
• Utilize Groovy scripting for automation tasks including CI/CD orchestration, build management, and test automation.
• Partner with business executives, CIOs, and operations leads to communicate modernization plans and align efforts with enterprise goals.
• Perform impact analysis and system mapping for complex mainframe environments using AI-enhanced assessment tools.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies throughout the transformation lifecycle.
• Contribute to cloud architecture strategy, supporting hybrid deployments and migrations to AWS or Azure platforms.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Software development experience, with 3 or more years focused on mainframe modernization in the financial sector.
• Proficient in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, VSAM) and capable of re-architecting systems using Java and Python.
• Strong experience with DevOps practices and tools including Jenkins, GitLab, and automation with Groovy.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to senior business leaders and stakeholders.
