Job summary

ASME, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, seeks a Principal AI & Knowledge Graph Architect to lead the transformation of engineering standards into intelligent digital assets. You will shape AI architecture, knowledge graphs, and semantic platforms, partnering across Legal, Product, and Technology to secure authoritative meaning and governance.

The role requires building scalable digital platforms, setting interoperability standards, and delivering executive-level guidance.

Qualifications

• Enterprise-scale knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic models, or AI-enabled information platforms.
• Ability to lead complex technical transformation initiatives involving structured and unstructured data.
• Experience defining governance and validation frameworks in regulated or technically rigorous domains.
• Strong understanding of interoperability standards, APIs, and machine-consumable information architectures.
• Ability to operate as a strategic technical leader across executives, SMEs, technology teams, legal stakeholders, and external partners.
• Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the multi-year strategy and roadmap for ASME’s Digital Engineering Knowledge Platform.
• Drive integration of ASME standards intelligence into engineering ecosystems (CAD/CAE, PLM, MBSE, digital twins, AI tools).
• Establish a unified digital platform connecting standards, learning, journals, APIs, and AI-enabled services.
• Explore interoperability protocols and frameworks (semantic standards, AI orchestration).
• Prioritize enterprise platform capabilities and drive scalable growth across business units and external ecosystems.
• Lead architecture for AI-enabled engineering use cases (compliance validation, workflows, intelligent retrieval, CAD/PLM/MBSE integrations).
• Define HITL validation frameworks to ensure trust and explainability.
• Establish guardrails for AI usage, hallucination mitigation, and authoritative interpretation.
• Partner with vendors and research orgs to evaluate AI and graph technologies.
• Translate complex AI/graph concepts for executive guidance and board-ready communications.
