Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Lead AI Engineer to help design and scale AI-powered banking solutions in a fast-moving environment.

You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product teams to deliver production-ready AI components and platforms that improve customer experience. The role requires deep knowledge of AI systems, strong programming skills in Python/Java/Scala, and a track record of deploying scalable, responsible AI on cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/AI or related fields with required experience
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java
• Preferred: 7 years of experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms
• Experience leading and mentoring an engineering team
• Experience with AI/ML algorithms (LLM Inference, Similarity Search, VectorDBs, Guardrails)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including training, inference, guardrails, evaluation, and observability
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, throughput
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One
