Job summary

Oligo Space in Hawthorne, CA is hiring a Senior Software/AI Engineer to advance core algorithms for generative design, simulation-aware geometry creation, and automation tooling for spacecraft engineers.

You will work with ML/AI and traditional automation to design, simulate, and accelerate manufacturing for flight-ready satellites, collaborating across disciplines on real missions that fly and scale globally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, ML/AI, or a related technical field.
• Significant experience in ML/AI through academic or industry research, personal projects, or internships beyond coursework.
• Significant experience in classical algorithm development through academic or industry research, personal projects, or internships beyond coursework.
• 4+ years of experience building advanced ML/AI systems (LLM agent frameworks, RL algorithms, transformers).
• Strong proficiency in Python (PyTorch) and C++, C#. Proficiency or willingness to learn modern tooling.
• Ability to balance fidelity, speed, and manufacturability in design and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain foundation models with strong spatial reasoning for spacecraft design automations.
• Design self-supervised and low-data model training schemes using limited real-world data.
• Develop and deploy automation tooling to accelerate spacecraft design processes.
• Develop and deploy agentic VLM frameworks that parse documents into engineering constraints.
• Train models with reinforcement learning to explore design spaces balancing multiple objectives.
• Interface with simulation tools (Ansys, GMAT, Thermal Desktop) and CAD environments (OpenCascade, CadQuery, SolidWorks plugins).
• Collaborate daily with hardware engineers; code will be tested in thermal chambers, vibration tables, and on orbit.
