Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Senior Software Engineer focused on AI data engineering to automate repetitive engineering tasks and accelerate data review for launch vehicles and spacecraft.

You will build agentic AI systems, multi-agent workflows, and dashboards, collaborating with avionics, propulsion, and structures teams to deliver reliable, production-grade tools for mission use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of practical automation engineering experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering focusing on automation tools and/or AI integrations.
• 5+ years of programming experience in Python.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to identify time-consuming, repetitive work and design tools to automate it.
• Build automation processing large volumes of engineering data, including telemetry and test records, to flag anomalies and surface insights.
• Design agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows to let engineers query, analyze, and act on data across internal systems.
• Integrate tools into CI/CD pipelines and mission workflows so automation runs where engineers work.
• Create internal dashboards showing mission status, open work, and data review results.
• Prototype rapidly and evolve tools to production-ready, maintainable state.
• Test and validate tools and AI outputs to ensure reliability in flight-critical environments.
• Prioritize work by ROI and track engineering hours saved.
