Job summary

Synechron is seeking a hands-on Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI solutions. The role requires deep Java and Python expertise, strong GCP experience, and proven production AI/ML delivery capabilities.

You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver scalable AI systems. The base salary varies by geography; in New York, NY the range is $115k–$130k per year with benefits.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of professional software engineering experience with AI/ML
• Strong hands-on programming with Java and Python
• Production AI/ML systems experience, not just research
• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native development
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of ML concepts, model lifecycle management, data prep, evaluation, inference
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, version control, code quality, containerization, monitoring
• Experience deploying with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE)
• Understanding of security, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with Vertex AI, generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, vector databases, AI agents
• Experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, LangChain
• Familiarity with MLOps platforms, model registries, feature stores, automated model evaluation
• Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow/Data processing tech
• Knowledge of responsible AI, governance, privacy, explainability, bias mitigation
• Experience building enterprise AI apps with high availability and latency/security needs
• Relevant Google Cloud or ML certifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain production-grade AI/ML applications.
• Build scalable backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and AI platforms using Java and Python.
• Develop and integrate AI solutions involving generative AI, ML models, NLP, recommendations.
• Deploy, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot AI workloads on GCP.
• Work with Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions.
• Develop reliable model-serving and inference systems with performance, scalability, and security.
• Implement production AI practices: versioning, evaluation, observability, drift monitoring, testing.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to productionize models.
• Design secure, well-typed software with modern engineering practices.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and engineering standards initiatives.
• Investigate emergent AI technologies and assess applicability to business needs.
• Mentor engineers and develop best practices for AI engineering and cloud-native delivery.
